A Young Man’s Dream of Starting a Small Business
Twenty-four-year-old Nasir lived with his mother and younger sister. Life was simple, and the family had limited sources of income.
One evening, while sitting with his mother, Nasir shared his idea of starting a small burger stall. He wanted to earn some extra money and support his family.
His mother listened carefully and gave him valuable advice:
“Son, before starting any business, always study the place carefully.”
Nasir respected his mother’s experience. The next day, he spent hours visiting different areas of the city to find the right location.
The city center looked like a good option, but many burger stalls were already operating there. The rent was expensive, and finding a suitable place was difficult.
After searching for a long time, Nasir decided to start his business near his home in the Ittefaq Town market.
There, he met a samosa seller and requested a small space beside his shop. After discussion, they agreed on a monthly rent of two thousand rupees.
A Small Beginning With Big Hopes
Nasir purchased the necessary supplies and started preparing for his new business.
His mother and sister supported him by preparing kebabs at home. On the first day, they made only twelve kebabs.
To attract customers, Nasir kept his burger price slightly lower than the stalls in the city center.
His sister suggested:
“Brother, if we add mayonnaise, the taste will become even better.”
With the support and prayers of his family, Nasir opened his small burger stall.
Before starting, however, his mother made him promise something important.
“Son, never miss your prayers in congregation.”
Nasir promised her that his business would never become a reason for leaving his prayers.

The first day was not easy.
Nasir sold only six burgers.
But he did not lose hope. Every evening, he opened his stall at four o’clock and worked until nine.
However, whenever the time for congregational prayer approached, he followed the promise he had made to his mother.

Just before Maghrib prayer, while Nasir was closing his stove, a twelve-year-old boy arrived.
“Brother, please prepare six burgers for us.”
It was the first time someone had placed such a large order.
For a moment, Nasir thought about delaying his prayer.
“This is a big customer. If I leave now, I might lose this opportunity.”
But he remembered his promise.
He politely said:
“Son, it is time for prayer. I will prepare your burgers after I return.”
The boy left with his family.
Nasir felt disappointed, but he chose prayer over profit and went to the mosque.

“I will bring them in about thirty minutes,” the supplier replied.
Nasir waited inside the shop.
Then suddenly, a car stopped outside.
To his surprise, the same young boy appeared again.
But this time, he had a bigger order.
“Brother, we need ten burgers.”
Nasir was happy but worried because the buns had not arrived yet.
He explained:
“The buns will come in about half an hour.”
The boy was about to leave when suddenly the supplier arrived with the buns.
Nasir could not believe it.
Something that seemed impossible a few moments ago had happened easily.
He smiled and called the boy:
“Son, the buns have arrived. I will prepare your burgers now.”
That evening, for the first time, ten burgers were being prepared together on his stove.
His daily sales increased, and he was able to sell around twenty burgers regularly.
Success Without Leaving His Principles
The nearby shopkeepers noticed the change.
They said:
“Your stall is becoming very popular.”
“Today your business is doing really well.”
Nasir smiled, but he never forgot the principle that brought him peace.
When the time for Isha prayer approached, he once again closed his stall, packed his things, and walked toward the mosque.
On his way, he remembered his mother’s words:
“Even if you are gaining a huge benefit, when Allah’s command comes, leave everything and answer the call.”
Nasir realized that true success was not only about earning more money. True success was about earning through honest ways while staying connected with Allah.
A Successful Business Built on Honesty
Years passed.
Today, Nasir’s burger stall has become well-known because of its taste, quality, and honesty.
He now has an employee working with him, and his customers respect him not only for his burgers but also for his character.
People know that when the call to prayer begins:
“Hayya ‘alas-Salah, Hayya ‘alal-Falah”
Nasir will pause his work and answer the call.
He believes:
“Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah replaces it with something better.”
The Moral of the Story
This story teaches us an important lesson.
Success does not come from dishonesty, shortcuts, or ignoring our values.
Hard work, patience, honesty, and faith create lasting success.
Business is important, and earning a livelihood is necessary, but a person should never allow worldly benefits to take priority over the commands of Allah.
